Eric Tebbett has enjoyed a reputation as one of the leading music educators in the UK. From being a trumpet player in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain to being awarded the Hugh S Roberton prize for Vocal Ensemble, whilst studying with a scholarship to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music, his career has spanned over four decades.
As a cornet/trumpet player, he has been privileged to play with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, and the celebrated GUS Band, whilst holding the post of Head of Brass for Northamptonshire Performing Arts.
As a tenor, he has broadcast on both radio and television, and released three CDs “Quintessentially English” a collection of songs by English composers, “Light in the Darkness” Gospel songs of the 19/20th centuries and “New Found Voices” songs written by Edwardian composers.
His performances have featured with Ely Cathedral Choir, Bath Camerata and Auckland Cathedral Choir, with acclaimed performances of the Evangelist in both the St John and St Matthew Passions by Bach.
As a conductor he has worked with youth orchestras and professional ensembles, including conducting the Wellingborough Singers whilst Director of Music at Wellingborough School. He has also been Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor for Central Festival Opera.
Eric is a member of Music for Youth, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of Trinity College of Music and holds the post of Adjunct Professor of Arts and Ministry at Hartford Seminary, USA. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Musicians.
In recent years he has worked in Europe, South Africa, USA, Jamica, Australia, New Zealand, India, Nepal, Japan, China, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
